Arjun who chatted about school, a bright spark between the otherwise tense silence that lingered in the air, was also waiting for his mama's response.

I stumbled over my own feet as he shoved me through the doorway, barely catching myself before I hit the polished marble floor. Gasping, I straightened up, eyes wide as they scanned the unfamiliar surroundings. Or should I sayâa mansion. Everything about it screamed wealth, power⌠and danger.
